Dodridge Miller as its new Chancellor, the 7th holder of the highest office in the regional university system. His assumption of duties signals a change in leadership, succeeding Robert Bermudez, whose seven-year term ends on July 31.
The University Council appointed Chancellor Miller at its annual business meeting earlier this year. According to the University’s Statutes and Ordinances, “the Chancellor shall preside at meetings of the Council [the highest governing body of the regional university] and any Convocation and shall have such powers and perform such duties as may be conferred upon the holder of the office of Chancellor by The UWI Charter or any Statute, Ordinance or Regulation.”
Chancellor Miller, a distinguished graduate of The UWI, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He is regarded as a true Caribbean luminary with over 30 years of leadership in the banking, insurance, and financial services sectors, including a successful tenure as the Group President and CEO of Sagicor Financial Company until his retirement in March 2023.
In a statement to the University community, Chancellor Miller assured that The UWI’s operations will continue seamlessly under his leadership. He expressed his eagerness to engage with contributing governments and the University executives to deepen their working relationship.
