On Monday, March 7, The University of the West Indies (The UWI) and the National Baking Company Foundation in Jamaica signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide grant funding towards the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Oceanography and Blue Economy (COBE).

The 2021-2022 staging of the UWI Venture Competition (UWIVC) attracted over 80 entrants with eight finalists emerging who went on to pitch their business ideas at the finals which took place on Friday January 28, 2022.
